After a one sided contest in the first match, everyone would be expecting to see a close battle between the two powerhouses of cricket in the 2nd ODI. Indian team has a last and only chance to make a comeback tomorrow at Sydney, otherwise Australia will take an unassailable lead in the series. The problem of sixth bowling option is hurting India badly as we saw in the first ODI. In the absence of Hardik the pacer, Indian team is looking incomplete in the bowling department, and Australia took full advantage of that and piled up huge runs on the board. India must find a way to play Kuldeep in the xi at the cost of either Iyer or Mayank if they want to beef up their bowling, otherwise India will be batted out of the game by Australia once again. Jadeja was economical, Shami took 3 wickets but Bumrah and Chahal had an off day and they would be hoping to perform much better tomorrow. Coming to Saini, there were reports that he is suffering from back spasms and is not fully fit, if that is the case then team management should drop him and play either Shardul of Natarajan in place of him, because a half fit bowler is a liability for the team as we saw yesterday. In the batting department, India will be hoping a lot from Mayank to score some big runs as he is filling a big void that was created in the absence of Rohit Sharma. A lot will also depend on Virat to take up the responsibility and play a captain's knock for his team in a do or die match tomorrow. Iyer and Rahul have a huge role in the middle order and they have to prove a point in this series and assure the selectors that they are the one on whom India can bank till the next world cup. Pandya will continue to bat at 6 as he deserves that slot after the knock that he played at Sydney yesterday. And not to forget, both the teams have to lift up their fielding standards after a horrible day at field yesterday especially India who looked clueless and low on energy on the ground. Coming to Australia, everything went well for them in the first ODI, Their top order racked up runs and Maxwell showed some outstanding hitting from below, a big plus for them. Stoinis had a bad day but he is a very good player and will make a comeback in the next match. Hazelwood and Zampa picked up wickets, but Starc and Cummins were a bit dissapointing especially Starc who leaked a lot in his 9 overs including one that he bowled in the beginning of Indian innings and went for 20 runs. Rest everything was fine for Aussies and they would be hoping to seal the series tomorrow by replicating their previous performance.
A whitewash down under...,maybe? maybe not? This question will be answered tomorrow at Canberra. Both the matches at Sydney were one sided with Indian bowling looking clueless against ever hungry Australian batsmen. India haven't lost the series due to batting, the team managed to score above 300 runs in both the matches, the main damage has been done by our bowlers, excluding Shami, no one else looked motivated and determined to take wickets, the biggest disappointment are Bumrah and Chahal who performed extraordinarily in IPL 2020 but looked out of touch against Aussie batsmen. Saini is a liability for the team and should be rested until he is fully fit. Natarajan should replace him tomorrow as he is a left arm pace, a rare commodity in Indian cricket. Jadeja is an economical bowler but he too has a responsibility on his shoulder to take wickets in the middle overs. Kuldeep must play tomorrow in place of either Shami or Bumrah if India decides to rest one out of the t...
